Wheels of fire

I took quite a few photos that evening on the beach on Koh Lanta. We were sitting just a few meters away from these wheels of fire and we could feel the heat. This fire show was really something. Needless to say, the kids liked the show too.

Not yet crowded

Just a few hours after this photo was taken, these sunbeds would all be occupied. The beach would be crowded of people and the sun would stand high on the sky. I think I prefer the beach like this, not yet crowded.

Up and away

This is one of the first photos I took on our two-month backpacking trip a few years ago. We had just left the ground and could enjoy a winter sunrise above the clouds. A rather good way to start a trip.

Urban Giant Mushrooms

Gardens by the Bay was a mandatory stop during our few days in Singapore. And it was well worth it. I took this photo of the Supertree Grove through the glass ceiling (or was it wall, it’s hard to tell with those buildings) of one of the two conservatories.

On the ground

I don’t know much about mushrooms. Some you can eat and some you can’t. Or at least shouldn’t, if you want to stay among the living. I know where to find many of them though. On the ground in the forest.

The Taxi Driver

In Tanah Rata, Cameron Highlands, it was not very expensive to book a taxi for a few hours. It makes the sightseeing quite easy and it gives you the opportunity to meet interesting people. This is our taxi driver and I just love how colorful he is. He was a nice guy too.

Ponte Vecchio, Florence

I’ve only been to Florence once, but want to go there again some day. It’s a very photogenic town with lots of photo opportunities. This is a photo of Ponte Vecchio, the famous medieval stone bridge.

Rainbow cloud

It was a midwinter afternoon and we were just about to enter the train station. On our way in we saw this colorful pastell rainbow cloud. I’ve never seen anything quite like it and I think it was rather cool.

On top of the green peaks

Despite my aversion to heights we took the Langkawi SkyCab to the top of the mountains. From up there you can really see how green Langkawi is. Needless to say, the view was quite spectacular.
